Here is a list of other interesting rides I have done that don’t fit in any specific category above:

  • Culcairn – Morven – Woomargama National Park – Talmalmo road ride. Jan 2014. An enjoyable ride, although very tough on the ascents in the national park. Mixture of asphalt and aggregate road types. This was my longest ride up to that date. 76km, 776m in ascents.
  • Tintaldra – Cudgewa – Colac Colac – Corryong – Towong (almost) road ride. Jan 2014. Early morning bike ride. Mostly asphalt with some aggregate between Cudgewa and Colac Colac. 43km, 253m in ascents.
  • South Gundagai Lookout and Gundagai, Historic Places road ride. Feb 2014. A steep ascent to the lookout then less hilly once down from the lookout. Lots of interesting things to see on this ride. Road surface all asphalt apart from some wooden bridge surfaces. 17km, 130m in ascents.
  • Culcairn – Walla Walla – Jindera – Lavington – Albury – Wodonga road ride. Feb 2014. Mixture of asphalt and aggregate road surfaces. Included ascent of Jindera Gap. 74km, 267m in ascents.
  • Tolmie – Barwite – Mansfield road ride. Apr 2014. Lots of descents on this one but still total ascent of around 180 metres. Nearly all asphalt. 23km, 188m in ascents.
  • Mansfield – Howes Creek – Goughs Bay – Piries – Mansfield road ride. Apr 2014. Lots of undulations with various ascent steepness. Road surfaces were asphalt, aggregate, 4×4 dirt. 43km, 438m in ascents.
  • Culcairn – Alma Park – Pleasant Hills – Osborne – Lockhart. Apr 2014. Mostly roads I had never ridden before. Road surfaces were asphalt, aggregate, farm tracks. 79km, 339m in ascents.
  • Lockhart – Urana. Apr 2014. All asphalt, but some riding in light rain, and along roads I had never been along before (even in the car). I thought I was heading towards Boree Creek but apparently wasn’t! Very open and flat country. 49km, 41m in ascents. .
  • Culcairn – Walbundrie – Brocklesby – Howlong – Rutherglen – Wahgunyah. May 2014. Mostly on asphalt roads with some dirt roads and rail trail. All of the roads are roads I had ridden before, but when combined all together in this ride they make a total of a little over 100km, total ascents 210m. .
  • Jarvis Creek Jaunt. June 2014. A 48km social ride organised once a year by the Friends of the High Country Rail Trail, Tallangatta. The ride had a range of different ride experiences: rail trail, country asphalt roads, fire trails, forest tracks. Some steep climbs (7%) and descents. .
  • Rutherglen – Londrigan – Everton – Myrtleford – Bright. July 2014. A mixture of dirt road, asphalt road and rail trail, with a number of ascents, totalling 490 metres. The weather was about as mixed as the surfaces ridden. 104km. .
  • Geehi Flats – Geehi Walls Track – Scammells Spur Lookout. Dec 2014. Interesting for it’s cumulative climb of 1350 metres in 21km, and in a sub-alpine and isolated area (inside the Kosciosko National Park). This ride was by far the highest cumulative climb of any ride I had done to date! .
  • Eurobin Picnic Area – Mt Buffalo Chalet and return. Nov 2015. This ride had a cumulative climb on around 2100 metres and surpassed the previous climb record (Geehi Flats – Scammel Lookout above) by a considerable margin to become the new highest cumulative climb of any ride I have done to date. .
